SPRING FICTION SHAKEDOWN: NEW SHORT FICTION FROM FREEHAND BOOKS
Freehand Books is excited to announce the launch of a great new collection of short fiction. Paul Headrick will launch The Doctrine of Affections at the Short Line Reading Series on April 13, with guest reader Shana Myara and special musical guest Téa, a Vancouver-based singer, pianist, and songwriter who fuses elements of R&B, Soul, and Pop music into her own brand of “City Soul.” Headrick and Téa will perform a unique hybrid musical and literary piece based on one of the short stories in Paul’s new collection.

Featuring readings by first-place fiction winner Rob Madden, and contest entrants Kevin Spenst, Carrie-May Siggins, and Colin Stewart. Also, readings by Jen Neale and Patrick Friesen.

Men’s and Women’s venetian masks, animal masks, party masks—the possibilities are endless.
Learn how to make and decorate a hard felt mask in this 3 hour workshop.
Participants will leave with a durable working mask and a degree of experience that will help them continue their creative practice at home.
*All materials are included, but do feel free to bring extra specialty materials and supplies.
Class will be lead by Vancouver-based sculptor and mask-maker AJ Ivings.
$45 (includes taxes and supplies)
